Q: “Studio work was really something all through the fifties and sixties but then it seemed to slow down, didn’t it, in New York?”


A: “Yeah, well, in the 50s, there was an awful lot of jazz playing in the studios like they were turning on jazz records day and night there in the early 50s like maybe somebody will be making some kind of different combination of jazz musicians, so we were really very busy in the studios playing jazz during that first period that I went to New York.”
