Q: “You are a very good bass player – with that left foot, that really gets going there! Does it help that you have played bass, that you understand bass lines better perhaps?”

A: “An organ bass would be, just to play it straight, you know, the way you would be... well, how can I put it? You wouldn't get the same effect, you know, because the way that a bass player plays with the piano, that's the effect that I try to get between the organ with the top and the bottom keyboard, you know, so that it has a wider range, really, and then it just gives you a fuller sound.”
