Q: “You like to get to hear Jim Hall but how is it possible when you work the same hours?”

A: “That's hardly possible. They had to rely on records and word of mouth. But Jim, of course, is one of my big favorites and I think I’ll be able to squeeze by there on Thursday evening as I was a little overlapping. But I really have, like you say, cherish the time I can get off not that I’m that terribly busy. But the year lately, in the last months, I've been quite occupied, either with recording or playing and my time to listen live, that is, has been limited, so I really cherish those times I can get out.”
