Q: “If I’m not mistaken, you actually started out - or concurrent with starting piano - playing bass?”

A: “Bass came in junior high school. I did start on piano, but when I got into junior high school, there were eight pianists for the orchestra and the director pointed to the bass and said, "How would you like to play one of those?" I said, "Sure, fine."
