Q: “Music wasn’t your first career choice – maybe the better one – but it wasn’t the first one. When did you start playing – the usual kind of thing as a kid in school?”

A: “That's right, exactly. Elementary school in mid-50s and I was a brass player initially at the band, the trumpet player, baritone horn and I went to French horn in high school. And in between, in junior high school is when I picked up the bass just by accident in summer school.”
