Q: “Were they [the family] bugged that you wanted to be a musician?”

A: “No, I never ran up against that fortunately. My family would have been happy with anything I decided to do and when that really became my focus by the time I was in my last couple of years of high school, I never had any heat about it at all. In fact, by the time I was a senior in high school, I was sometimes dragging in at 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning from, you know, dances, you know, typical high school dances with different bands I was playing with and all that.”
