Q: “Something that musicians maybe recognize sooner than listeners and an audience – you’re musically sophisticated. You can say [about others] ‘well, he played for eight choruses but he didn’t say anything…”

A: “Yeah, well ... you know, if I feel something, then, you know, then I know it's something happening because you wouldn't pat your foot, you know, you couldn't really get involved. I could be talking in a conversation to you and if there was music in the background at various point during the conversation, I will be listening to you, but I'm also listening to the music because it catches me.”
