Q: “Your music in the early fifties is very different from the music you play now. You were it seems, trying to emulate the American music much more.”
A: Humphrey Lyttleton: “Because at that time, we got a lot of things from most of the listening to jazz never came from records and my ...”

Humphrey Lyttleton: “It was secondhand. On the other hand, they were the germs of what I'd done later in the sense that I broke the rules such as they were and they fairly strict on those days, you know, the purists laid down pretty strict rules.”
