Q: “You started singing so very young, you were recording when you were twelve or fourteen years old!”

A: “You know, I used to play the piano and sing. That's how I learned to sing, just playing the piano and teaching myself how to sing. And there was a friend of the family, he came out and he heard me play and sing. And he was one of the blues guitarists, Sylvester Weaver and he brought Mr. Rockwell, Tom Rockwell, out there to hear me play and sing. And he came out and heard me and that's when I made my first record.
