Q: “Do you have any advice you would give to a young singer? Do you think they should have some lessons or should they study piano perhaps?”

A: “I think maybe studying piano would be ... it gives you some sense of hearing and hearing how things go together and well, I just think it’s better if you would just sit down and play because you can put in when you ... if you learn the music and then you can start singing, then you can put into that what you want. You can put your own feelings into something, but when you got it there on the paper and you've got to do breathe in all that and oh, yeah. Well, you know, just all the time at the same place and all, things like that would kind of do something. Well, I know it would do something to me.”
