Q: “Going back to your roots, I keep finding your love of classical music and the techniques required to play it, showing up in your jazz playing…”

A: George Shearing: “I still play symphony concerts. I'm just about getting out of the desire to play concerti simply because my life is still professionally as busy as I want it to be. In fact, it might be a little busier than I want it to be.”

Interviewer: “But you like it that way?”

George Shearing: “Because I've got loads of unlistened-to tapes, records, unread books, things that I want to do. I want to go back being a disc jockey one day, too. I'm on a disc jockey show in 1963. I want to do that so badly I can taste it.”
