Q: “You actually play the same style of instrument as [Django] Reinhardt – a Maccaferri - are they as difficult to play as I have heard? I was told by Barney Kessel that the Reinhardt family gave Kessel a guitar and he couldn’t play it in tune, he said.”
A: Dis Disley: “Well, they told him. It wasn't particularly to Reinhardt family, I don't think. It was just some gypsies that are in France, and they told him ...”
Interviewer: “That it was...”
Dis Disley: “That it was one of Django's guitars, you see. They also gave one, I think they gave one to Herb Ellis and they told him it was one of Django's guitars and they've given one or two to other people. But in fact, they were none of them were. I mean, you know, they're gypsies. Yeah, gypsies are like that, you see, yeah. So it wasn't true, not true.”
