Q: ”I’ve often thought that people like you and the musicians who’ve been out there doin’ it and been on the road more than you really appreciate - because I know that you do a lot of teaching - but you’re also teachers because you’re up there, by doing, you’re also teaching the rest of the world about American music…”
A: “That's true and I think that it's important for those of us who have been involved with what we were doing for so long a period. I think it's important that we should get very much into sort of imparting our knowledge to younger people so as to keep them involved in the perpetuation of our craft, which is important. Otherwise, it goes down the drain to hit, you know. We have to sort of teach it by, you know, from mouth to ear like masonry was taught years ago and some of it has to rub off through the process of osmosis because a lot of it can't be documented, you know.”
