Q: "What is it you're searching for, what is it you want to do with music?"
A: Billy Hart: “Just more depth and understanding, you know, be more natural. In other words, it is a natural music, but it has a tendency because of its underexposure to seem so complex, so much complicated. Now, when you can get to the root of creativity, you know, I guess, Godliness. I hope I don't offend anybody with that. You know, spirituality of the music, and then you can communicate with people easier.”
Interviewer: “The universal quality of the music.”
Billy Hart: “Yeah, yeah. In other words, people will know it's complex and complicated, but they can relate to it on a more human level, natural level. In other words, you would be able to get past the complexity of the music, in general, and hopefully more people will be enriched by this. In other words, I believe in this music as an uplifting experience, right? In other words, only a few people will be exposed to it or even relate to it, but for those who do, it's an uplifting experience. It's not decadent. In other words, it's a more positive experience, you know, that I believe that I'll be sharing with the people that I want to be able to do better and more of ...”
