Biography
TAL FARLOW (guitarist) was born June 7, 1921 in Greensboro, North Carolina and passed away July 24, 1998. The legendary guitarist known for both his speed and rich harmonic sense was first influenced by hearing Charlie Christian on radio. Young Tal worked with a number of musicians from New York and soon moved there – partial to performing with vibraphonists like Milt Jackson and Red Norvo, his playing drew notice – winning Down Beat’s New Star Award and Critics Poll in 1956. Active off and on in the next couple of decades he had a career resurgence in the 1980s, performing in the “Great Guitars” band, touring and teaching.
