STEVE LUCAS (bassist, producer) is an international recording and touring musician, who recently concluded a third North American tour with Canadian icon Bruce Cockburn, released his own ‘Gamma Jazz’ CD which combines jazz with modern drum and bass styles and complex jazz fusion rhythms, and produced an instructional DVD demonstrating modern bass techniques.

Lucas's unique bass style was honed over years of early influence by giants including John Coltrane, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, and Earth, Wind & Fire, formative impact which resulted in the singular style that has, in the years since, garnered accolades among audiences, journalists, and musical peers all over Europe, North America, and The Orient.

He is accomplished in all musical styles, performing everything from the Celtic Music of platinum recording artist Loreena McKennitt, to touring China in 2007 with the celebrated Canadian Chinese Ensemble headed by Erhu prodigy George Gao and composer Donald Quan. In addition to an intensive North American recording and touring schedule, Steve has played on The David Letterman Show, the Juno Awards, the Aboriginal Awards, numerous films and television shows including "The Relic Hunter" and Atom Egoyan's "Babyface", and written the theme music for Canadian television shows "Shout" on the Pride Network and "The Score" on The Sports Network (TSN).

Steve Lucas was a member of the Perry White Quartet when they performed in concert during the “Sound of Tornto Jazz” Series at the Ontario Science Centre on March 19, 1990. He also played bass with the Michel Lambert Quartet in the same series on November 18, 1991.
