Steve Crowe

STEVE CROWE (trumpeter) is one of Toronto’s consummate professional trumpet players. Graduating from Humber College in 1985, he quickly soared on the Toronto jazz scene working in numerous dance and club bands, big bands, Latin bands, ethnic orchestras, Dixieland bands, and several small jazz ensembles. He has played on countless jingles, film and television soundtracks, and recordings, and has worked in stage shows with Rich Little, Bernadette Peters, and Bob Hope.

His versatility has led to holding down the lead trumpet chair on a substitute basis in Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, working with Jim Galloway’s Wee Big Band, and to frequently be contracted to play in the pit bands for touring musicals that come to Toronto, including Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, Showboat, The Pyjame Gama, Jolson, Ragtime, Crazy for You, Les Miserables, and Cats.

He remains active on the Toronto jazz scene, and is currently on the faculty of Humber College teaching Trumpet, Ensemble Performance, Basic Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Repertoire Development.
