Simon Fisk

Biography

SIMON FISK (bassist, guitarist, vocalist) was born November 17, 1970. He is a Calgary, Alberta, Canada musician whose recording credentials have been extensive over nearly two decades, essentially with the same piano trio – Fisk as leader on bass, pianist Chris Gestrin, and drummer Tom Foster – since 1997. They have released two recordings in recent years, Trainwrecks and Intent (Plunge Recordings). Fisk also appears as a sideman on various other artists’ recordings including those of Gordon Grdina, Chris Gestrin, Jennifer Lauren, and Aaron Young.

His recording credentials have been extensive over nearly two decades, working primarily with the same piano trio – Fisk on bass, pianist Chris Gestrin, and drummer Tom Foster – since 1997. Fisk also appears as a sideman on various other artists’ recordings including those of Gordon Gardina, Chris Gestrin, Jennifer Lauren, and Aaron Young.

Since year 2000, Simon Fisk has been bassist with acclaimed Canadian pianist Michael Kaeshammer, performing with Kaeshammer, as well as his own trio, all over the world. He was a member of Michael Kaeshammer’s Band when they performed in concert for the “Sound of Toronto Jazz” Series on November 2, 2002.
