SCOTT HAMILTON (saxophonist, bandleader) was born September 12, 1954 in Providence, Rhode Island. The largely self taught musician tried out several instruments before settling on tenor saxophone in his teens. A protégé of Roy Eldridge’s, Hamilton worked with Anita O’Day, Hank Jones and Benny Goodman in his early career. Renowned for his interpretation of standards, his warm tenor phrasing, influenced by Ilinois Jacquet and Eddie Lockjaw Davis, has seen him working with Tony Bennett, Ruby Braff and Rosemary Clooney among others. Hamilton also leads his own quartets and quintets with over 40 recordings to his credit.
