Biography
LARRY VUCKOVICH (pianist) was born December 8, 1936 in Kotor in the former Yugoslavia. Described by Barry Harris as “one of the premier West Coast pianists”, Vuckovich spent his formative teens absorbing the lively music scene of 1950’s San Francisco hearing Miles Davis, John Coltrane and many others. As a first call accompanist he has performed with Mel Torme, Anita O’Day, Joe Williams, sideman with Dexter Gordon and Philly Joe Jones and has a long association with vocalist Jon Hendricks’ as well as leading his own combos. The widely traveled and sought after pianist, continues to perform and record in the San Francisco Bay Area.
