Kevin Clark

Biography

KEVIN CLARK (trumpter, cornetist, flugelhornist, arranger, composer, conductor) was born on April 16, 1958. He is a Grammy-nominated trumpeter, rated "one of the top New Orleans trumpet players" by Gambit Weekly (New Orleans). Downbeat Magazine praises his "Impressive capacity for heat & power". The Toronto Star calls him an "excellent trumpeter” and “trumpeter extraordinaire”. The Ottawa Sun lauds his “blistering trumpet”. And credos from New Orleans legends Al Hirt and Pete Fountain say “a great musician” and “a great trumpeter with a warm New Orleans sound”.

Clark has toured the United States, Europe, South America, Russia, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Canada. He has recorded and/or toured with Rhythm & Blues legend Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, New Orleans own clarinetist Pete Fountain, The Dukes of Dixieland, the New Orleans Nightcrawlers Brass Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and country artists Junior Brown and Lee Greenwood. His solo CDs are New Orleans Trumpet and New Orleans Jazz Brunch (Summit Records), The Crescent City Moonlighters Big Band (BOSE), Kevin Clark and The Jazz Revelation (gospel) and Kevin Clark's Jazz Kitchen (featuring original tunes and a CDROM cookbook of original recipes).
