JIM PURDIE (clarinetist, saxophonist, vocalist) was born in Scotland, and emmigrated to Canada in 1987, where he has worked as a musician ever since. As an accomplished reed player and vocalist, he has recorded and appeared on television with leading jazz and show bands including Jim McHarg’s Midnight Special, Nifty Meredith’s Banjo and Brass, The Village Stompers, and Borgy’s Banjo Reunion.

In addition to playing more traditional instruments, he is well-known for the novelty of his Washboard master. As a member of the Bourbon Street Buskers, and played with that band in the “Sound of Toronto Jazz” Concert Series on February 24, 1997.
