Jesse Dietschi
Biography
JESSE DIETSCHI (Bass) A versatile musician and composer equally versed in jazz, classical, and popular music, Jesse earned a Masters degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Composition from Brandon University. Proficient on both acoustic and electric bass, he has toured and performed with Celtic, R&B, hip-hop, rock, blues, reggae, and funk bands at various venues across Canada. He has performed with Lina Allemano, Nick “Brownman” Ali, Robi Botos, Ernest Dawkins, Ken Lavigne, Richard Underhill, Irene Torres and the Sugar Devils, Tunnel Six, and the Headstones, and appeared with numerous ensembles including Markham’s Kindres Spirits Orchestra, Tapestry New Opera, and the Edmonton Opera.
As an educator, Dietschi is a former bass faculty member at Brandon University and the International Music Camp and he currently teaches bass in Toronto and Oakville. He is also an Artistic Producer with Toronto’s Spectrum Music concert series and has appeared on international broadcasts including the CBC’s "Sounds of the Season" and NBC’s hit television show “Hannibal."
As a leader, Jess runs a hybrid ensemble that blends aspects of classical and jazz music, and has been featurede as part of Jazz Winnipeg's Nu Sounds concert series. He has also performed at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, and Toronto’s Beaches International Jazz Festival, and Mexico’s Northern Lights chamber music festival.
