Biography
JAMES WILLIAMS (pianist) was born on March 8, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away July 2, 2004 in New York, NY. An alumnus of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Williams was a noted educator at the Berklee College of Music and later became director of jazz studies at William Paterson University. He also performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Freddy Hubbard and Kenny Burrell as well as leading his own quartet, the Intensive Care Unit featuring Christian McBride, Bill Pierce and Tony Reedus.
