Glenn Anderson
Biography
GLENN ANDERSON (drummer) Born and raised in Toronto, Anderson has been performing on the Toronto music scene since the 1980s in a variety of musical settings. He has performed with Alex Pangman, Ross Wooldridge’s Tribute to The Benny Goodman Sextet, Big Rude Jake, Sly Blue, Jordan Klapman, and Colonel Tom & The American Pour.
On the traditional jazz scene, he has performed with the Excelsior Jazz Band, Dinny & The Allstars, the Hot Five Jazzmakers, the Ragweed Jazz Band, the Hot Peppers, the Dixie Demons, Up Jumped Swing, The Climax Jazz Band, the Magnolia Brass Band, Bertie & the Gents.
In 2011, Anderson teamed up with bassist Jack Zorawski, saxophonist Alison Young, and vocalist/pianist Roberta Hunt to form Red Hot Ramble, which performs New Orleans-style jazz, funk, and blues at venues in the Toronto area. Originally a quartet, the group performs regularly with special guest including trombonists Jamie Stager and Dan Douglas, trumpeters Andrej Saradin, Brigham Phillips, Bryden Baird, Tim Hamel, Howard Moore and Alexis Baro, and guitarist Kevin Barrett. The group released their debut album entitled Red Hot Ramble.
Anderson was a featured player with Alex Pangman and Her Alleycats (January 14, 2005), as well as Jake Wilkinson and the Funky Boot Brass Band (December 14, 1998) during the "Sound of Toronto Jazz" Concert Series.
