GERRY NIEWOOD (saxophonist) was born April 6, 1943 in Rochester and New York and passed away February 12, 2009 in Buffalo, New York. Niewood, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, had a long musical partnership with high school friend trumpeter Chuck Mangione and appeared on many of his best known albums. Proficient on soprano, alto, tenor, baritone sax and flute, Niewood released several recordings under his own name.
