GEORGE EVANS (vocalist) is a Canadian jazz singer who brings his own unique vocal sensibilities and sensitive interpretation of lyrics to jazz and pop standards, to the unfailing delight of audiences and critics alike. Evans has released six widely acclaimed recordings to date (2008) including the award-nominated ‘Eyes for You’. A recognized music archivist, Evans has been tasked a total of eight times with selecting and sequencing for Verve Records in the United States. As a writer, his column “Vocalizing In Jazz” was a regular feature of the international Planet Jazz Magazine, a promising international publication.

Evans first came to notice in the late 1980s while working the New York cabaret circuit. He relocated to Montreal in the ‘90s, where, as a skilled vocalist and authority on popular song, he quicky gained respect performing frequently on radio and in clubs throughout the city. Since moving to Toronto in 1999, he has become one of that city’s most recognized interpreters of standards and jazz vocals. He reactivated his cabaret career in New York in 2006, following Blossom Dearie in the late show at Danny’s Skylight Room. The same year he once again toured major cities across Canada, this time in support of his sixth solo recording, ‘Bewitched’ (M-Swing Records). He continued to expand his horizons in 2007, performing in duo with longtime friend Mary Foster Conklin both in Toronto and NYC in a jazz/cabaret piece entitled, "Night Songs For City Dwellers". His most recent release, 2008 is entitled “Live at the Cellar”. George was nominated for Male Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards in 2008.
