DUDLEY MOORE (actor, pianist, composer, comedian) was born Dudley Stuart John Moore on April 19, 1935 in Dagenham, England and passed away March 27, 2002 in Plainfield, New Jersey. The multi-talented Moore, who earned an Oscar nomination, two Tony Awards, a Grammy and two Golden Globes, was a child prodigy. Moore won scholarships to the Guildhall School of Music at 11, studying harpsichord, violin and organ and later to Oxford University. A deft jazz pianist, he drew wider recognition in the highly successful stage show “Beyond the Fringe”, beginning a long partnership with Peter Cook which included films “Bedazzled” and “The Wrong Box” as well as a television series “Not Only…But Also”. He achieved his greatest success in the films “10” and “Arthur in 1979 and 1981 along the way composing film scores. Moore was named Commander of the British Empire in 2001.
