Biography

CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE (bassist, composer, bandleader, educator) was born on May 31, 1972 in Philadephia, PA. The Grammy award winning bassist began playing electric bass as a 9 year old later picking up the acoustic bass. Graduating from High School for the Creative and Performing Arts and on scholarship to Juilliard, McBride quickly became part of New York’s jazz scene, leaving school to tour with trumpeter Roy Hargrove. In addition to leading his own acclaimed groups he has performed with such names as McCoy Tyner, Betty Carter, Diana Krall and Sting. McBride’s talent and commitment make him a busy recording artist, sideman, a sought after educator and music director.
