Bobby Rice

Biography

Bobby Rice (trumpeter) is a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and producer based in Toronto. Following studies at Humber College, Bob completed a Master of Arts degree in composition at York University, where he is currently completing his Ph.D.

His group, the Bobby Rice Latin Jazz Big Band, features  Hilario Durán, Bill McBirnie, Al Kay, Ted Quinlan, Mark Kelso, Alex Dean, and Kevin Turcotte. The group’s album, X-Treme Latin Jazz, was released  on Addo Records and features the acclaimed pianist David Virelles. The album received a JUNO nomination in 2015.

As a freelance artist, Rice has also performed and/or recorded with a broad range of artists including Shania Twain, Mary Wilson Frankie Vali, Frankie Avalon, the Drifters, Dick Clark, Joan Rivers, Louise Pitre, Robert Pilon, Colm Wilkinson, Michael Burgess, Jackie Richardson, Rich Little, Rik Emmett , and Jane Bunnett.

Bob currently teaches at Humber College.
