Biography
ROBERT (BOB aka 'B.P.') PRICE (bassist) was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Now deceased, he was one of Canada's finest bassists. Throughout a performing career that spanned several decades, he worked with world-class artists at home and internationally, touring, recording, and appearing on television with the biggest names on the entertainment scene.
A long-time member of the popular Norman Amadio Trio, the Frank Wright Quartet, and the Canadian Jazz Quartet, Bob Price was one of the most active bass-players anywhere providing brilliant backing for performers who included legendary names such as Ben Webster, Teddy Wilson, Oscar Peterson, Chet Baker, Phil Woods, 'Wild Bill' Davison, Carmen MacRae, Liberace, Zoot Simms, 'Philly' Joe Jones, Anita O'Day, Bobby Hackett, Al Cohn, Mel Torme, 'Wingy' Manone, Peter Appleyard, Bud Freeman, Joni Mitchell, Rob McConnell, Dakota Staton, Henry Cuesta, Paul Desmond, Jackie & Roy, Mose Allison, Pepper Adams, Moe Koffman, Bob Brookmeyer, Jimmy McPartland, Jim Galloway, and Clark Terry.
For the better part of two decades, B.P. was the bass-player in Jim Galloway’s swing sextet (now known as Jim Galloway’s Echoes of Swing) which has been playing on annual Jazz Cruises on Holland-America ships for more than 30 years.
