Biography
BOB DOROUGH (pianist, composer, vocalist) was born December 12, 1923 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas. Praised for his clever songwriting skills, he is perhaps best known for his 70’s era compositions for TV’s “Schoolhouse Rock” along with David Frishberg, a favourite collaborator. Dorough’s early career in 1950’s Paris featured Blossom Dearie and his appearance on her album “I’m Hip” . His “Devil May Care” album in 1956 contained a vocalese verion of“Yardbird Suite” – lyrics penned by Dorough and which prompted Miles Davis to invite him to record. Dorough holds the distinction of being the only vocalist to appear on a Miles Davis recording.
