Biography

ALISON YOUNG (Saxophone)

A native of Ottawa, Young honed her craft playing in local blues and R&B bands. Now based in Toronto, she moved there to study at the University of Toronto with Phil Nimmons and Mike Murley before embarking on a busy career.

Her influences include Cannonball Adderley, Lenny Pickett, Tower of Power, Aretha Franklin, and Eddie Harris.

She has performed and toured widely with artists including Roberta Hunt’s Red Hot Ramble, Richard Underhill, Kelly and the Kellygirls, and Big Rude Jake.
