Q: “It’s pretty hard to tell you, Stan Getz, Al Cohn and a lot of fellas apart. You all take the same approach and if you didn’t know some of your own little licks and approaches it could be very easy to not distinguish between you…”

A: “Yeah, well, I think we're all much different now. I think I play with more confidence now. I think that's the main change in my playing. Just finally realizing that, you know, this is who I am and just try to improve on it and I never did really try to sound like anybody, except when I was very young, you know, naturally you have to pattern yourself after somebody, but I don't think of anybody else but me when I play.”
