Q: “Writing a lot of music – is that something that does still to this day take a lot of time? You used to write as far back as when you were a kid playing with Anat Toll’s (sp??) band…”

A: “I very seldom ever write anymore. I'm writing when I'm playing Fax-Mez. We're talking about this jazz and it's just very interesting and I just came up with a good description of jazz. I have to use this language. I have to change my voice now to really explain what jazz is. Jazz is good swinging music, man. Now, we'll get back to the writing in more legitimate sound of music, the writing. I will tell you, each time I sit down to play the piano, I'm writing. I don't do it with the piano anymore. I do it with the keyboard and each time I sit down to the piano, I'm writing and composing jazz piano.”
