Q: “Most people under forty have no idea that music can be played without somebody singing…”

A: “It's true and they've been brought up on vocals. You know, they don't know about instrumental music and when they come into Crooke's, they'll hear me singing a song like 'A-Train' or 'Fever' and then I take a break, of course, and then the instrumentalist plays it and it's like a new thing for them because they haven't heard ... and then I bring it back and sing it again. So now, they'll listen like the band does instrumentals now and they love it.”
