Q: “Is it a musical background you come from? You say your mother taught you – was it a musical family? Did your parents play, brothers and sisters play?”

A: “Well, my mother, she's sang gospel music. She's the only one in the family that was musically inclined other than myself. And it wasn't so much that it was a musical family but, you know, we've always had a very close-knit family and we always did things or achieve things together. Even if it was an individual achievement, it took everybody supporting the person in that endeavor. So this is what we always try to do and there is never a stipulation attached to the achievement. The achievement basically is pursued through quality group effort based on just letting the person know that if this is something that you're serious about trying to do, we're behind you one hundred percent.”
