Q: “There is all kinds of proof really, that the record business is a terrible business…”

A: “It's a horrible business. It's a horrible ruthless building. I just was talking with somebody at CBS just this week. I did a wonderful album with Alberta Hunter, it's not being pressed and the guy at CBS said, "John, let's face it. No jazz records are being pressed right now. There is such a demand for, you know, big-selling records and there is so little space for pressing in the United States that only the big hits are being pressed. Forget about anything else."
