Q: “I can’t understand why jazz has never really made it on TV - when they can take some pretty obscure things and sustain them through one way or another - but nobody has ever really had the patience to do it with jazz…”


A: “It's not a matter of patience. It's exactly the opposite of patience. They are not willing to have an unstructured show on television. Everything is with … where everybody stands. It's got to be plotted out and they don't want microphones showing. They don't want people moving around.”
