Q: “Where do you think the music comes from? That may be a bit of a philosophical question but do you think of yourself as a filter and the music is just ‘out there’ and it just comes out though me?”

A: “Yeah, I mean, I've read that and heard that in that sort of philosophical point of view and I do feel that that's true because this thing about concentrating is just being aware of the sounds in the music, but it will do things that you wouldn't. If you were thinking about them, you wouldn't do. I mean, you wouldn't think about it. There are things that are not a part of your musical vocabulary or something, they'd just... so it means that there is a lot of music out there, you know, and it's all got to be focused and brought in through and all you have to do is have the facility that is to execute some, and of course, that's a different problem because you just cannot play everything you might...”
