Q: “Does it make much difference to you whether you play solo or with a group?”
A: “Well, I'm liking solo playing quite a bit now because I've seemed to be finding, I don't know, if the sound is right in the room and if the acoustics are right and I have a good sound, I really enjoy it a lot, you know. And there is a difference with the bass and drummer. In a way, you're free. You don't have to play a lot of time feeling. You don't have it played for you. But then also in another way, you're restricted in a way because you can't change and do things that you might impulsively want to do because you have the rhythm section, you know. But right now, I kind of like the solo playing. As I think I've said before when I was here that I'm working on it and I'm still working on it, so...”
