Q: “You still love to play standards, don’t you?”

A: “Yeah, I do from time to time. I think I... I don't know. I think I get tired of them if I had to do them, but not often. But not because I was tired of them, but rather I'd like to do some of my things, too. My music requires an emotional range that's a lot larger than standards were able to encompass, but I like both. You know, I like flowing back and forth.”
