Q: “Have you listened widely to jazz? You were saying that now you don’t, that you listen to very little music…”

A: “Yeah, I mean, as far as recordings, I guess maybe it is that things of spontaneity, you know, just like being alive moment to moment. You're listening to something then, you know, it took place before, but then you're hearing it now, so it's all... I don't know. I don't know why I don't, you know, but when I was learning, of course, I did. The first person that really, really influenced me was Charlie Parker.”
