Q: “How often, under normal circumstances, be able to play a set of strings? Do they lose a tensile strength or something after a while?”

A: “The perspiration and different things can eat away at the strings and they don't vibrate accurately and they go out of tune and/or they go dead. So sometimes, some of them might go dead within a week or so if I play it every night and some of that like the lower strings, the heavier ones, you can probably leave on for a month. But it varies and then occasionally, you'll run into a whole batch of strings that just none of them are really good and maybe they have a short life at two or three nights.”
