Q: “Was there ever any doubt that you would be a musician?”

A: “Never, as far as I could remember, I always wanted to play. Now, as far as being a musician was concerned, that I didn't know, but I wanted to play. I wanted to play an instrument. You know, I looked back on everything that I did, if I could do it over again, I would do it in a different way, but I didn't know that, and so … So you know, you don't look back and cry. You just ... well, as they say straight ahead and fly for tone, you know.”
