Q: “When was the first time you were here [in Toronto], do you remember? Was it on the road with Jimmy Dorsey or something?”

A: “I don't know if it was with Jimmy Dorsey or with the group called the Soft Winds years ago, in the late '40s, we used to come here. We came to, oh, God, I don't even remember the names of the places, some hotel we played in ... Not the Royal York, but we played in a hotel and in a couple of clubs. So I've been coming here for forty years, forty years.”
