Q: “You’ve made a good living out of music, right?”

A: “I never thought that anybody from Farmersville, Texas, the onion center of the world. I've been really fortunate. Man, I was ... just really I'm so thankful. I'm not trying to be saccharine about it, but I mean I'm really thankful. Every day I get up because it didn't have to be this good for me. Life has really been terrific. I've done one thing, I think I have a talent to play the guitar and I’ve tried to make the most of it. I perhaps could have done better, but I mean, I haven't dogged it. I've tried to make the most of what talent I have because I think you owe that, whatever your talent is. It doesn't have to be ... even in the arts, it can be anything. You definitely have a talent and whatever we have, if you can just give yourself to the attitude of making the most of it, I think that it's only right. Do you understand what I mean? It's only right that you should do that. So I'm just glad to wake up in the morning and have another shot at it every day, really.”
