Q: “We’ve brought ourselves up the Singers Unlimited which I guess you would have to say is the Chicago-based group…”
A: “We have a very good friend, my wife and myself, in Chicago, Audrey Morris. She's a very good singer and pianist and she sings at various lounges around Chicago and we're going to visit her shortly, and she and Oscar Peterson are very close friends. And Oscar was at Audrey's home between trips or appearing in Chicago, I guess. And she played 'Fool On The Hill' for him, this little test thing that we had done for agencies in Chicago. And he liked it very, very much and he was recording for MPS Records at that time in Germany and called me and said, "Would you like to record if I get the okay from the gentleman who owns the company there?" And I said, "Well, It'd be just delightful." So really Oscar Peterson introduced us to MPS.”
