Q: “Why did you decide to do that by the way, to go back to New Orleans? I imagine you and your wife must’ve gone, right? Because you were there for ten years…”
A: “Yeah, well, we ... that was our home originally and I knew that Pete had a good band and I knew that I'd have freedom to just get back to really play the way I wanted to play again, you know, instead of just recording in California and playing things like that. It would be a good chance that every night to get to play like old ... and I was hungry to do that again, you know. So it did me a lot of good, although we've played practically the same tunes every night. We changed it a little bit, but still I could blow it the way I wanted to do and when I had solos to do I could pick out any tune I wanted to play and Pete always built me up quite a bit, you know, because we're buddies and everything and anything I wanted to do, they're okay, you know. So I really enjoyed it then, so that's reason...”
