Q: “You brought up a point once that you were delighted to say somebody in a club asked you for some Billie Holiday songs, and I remember you saying ‘Billie Holliday didn’t write any songs!’; she wrote a couple but when people refer to things like a ‘Billie Holliday song’ they mean, you know… ”

A: Dick Wellstood: “When I associated with Billy because of the marvelous records, but those songs were all written by Ralph Ranger, 'Miss Brown To You' and 'What A Little Moonlight Could Do' and what was some of the ... you know, I can't remember them all now, but most of those were by Ralph Ranger.”

Interviewer: “Right.”

Dick Wellstood: “And ... who wrote ‘Thanks for the Memory’ and lots of good songs.”
